Suicide Squad

Apparently there are these exceptionally difficult situations that superheroes can’t be bothered with, so a Task Force is formed by Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) to be led by decorated military operative Ric Flagg whose girlfriend has been possessed by a witch! This is a pivotal movie in the DC Extended Universe, comprised of Batman villains such as Killer Croc, Harley Quinn and her beloved Joker (played by Jared Leto as a fey gangsta psychotic in the vein of Richard III), as well as Deathshot (Will Smith) and The Flash’s rogue Capt. Boomerang, sent to retrieve a diplomat trapped when Enchantress (an impressive performance by Cara Delevingne, elevating this fifth string villainess to Grodd or Darkseid level) attempts to build a powerful weapon that will destroy humanity. What has taken the Marvel franchise a decade to reach, DC enters the magic realm in its sequel to Batman v Superman! With but one sentence, the DC universe is established when Waller says, “The world changed when Superman flew across the sky; and then, changed again when he didn’t,” establishing timeline and setting up future installments. A solid adventure film that touches on Batman and the Outsiders, Flashpoint and the non-super DC participants.
