Time To Fill Up On Some New Growlers

One of the dumber aspects of the craft beer craze has been the whole “growler” scenario, where you take a half-gallon jug to a brewer or retailer, fill it up with draft beer, then take it home and drink the beer after it’s already lost its freshness. Whee. Thankfully that doofus trend has been dying out, but on the other hand, our boys The Growlers (as in the scruffy California band) are cranking at full strength, and have just unloaded their new album into our eager faces.

Co-produced by Julian Casablancas (singer for The Strokes) and Shawn Everett (Grammy winner for his engineering work on the Alabama Shakes’ Sound & Color), City Club adds heavy synths, dance beats and hints of reggae to their already pungent surf/goth/country/psych stew.

A tour supporting City Club (out now on Casablancas’ Cult Records) brings ‘em to Terminal West on Oct. 3rd.
