Starz’ P-Valley Lands in Atlanta’s Lap

Starz has picked up the strip club drama series P-Valley, the first season of which is set to film in Atlanta from mid-March through the end of July. Based on Katori Hall’s play Pussy Valley (the title the pilot filmed under in Atlanta last year) and set in a dismal Mississippi “shake junt” called The Pink Pony, the show will star Brandee Evans (The Bobby Brown Story, pictured), Nicco Annan (Shameless), Shannon Thornton (Starz’ Power), J. Alphonse Nicholson (BET’s Tales), Carolyn Braver (an episode of Chicago Fire), Parker Sawyers (BBC One’s World on Fire), Elarica Johnson (Sky One’s A Discovery of Witches) and Harriett D. Foy (Law & Order). Twenty-three year-old Karena Evans, who’s done some of Drake’s music videos (basically the same thing), has been tapped to direct the premiere episode, if not more. If they don’t shoot on location at Club Blaze or the Foxy Lady Lounge on Moreland, it has no cred. Just sayin’.
