O’Connor Adaptation in Early Stages
A few good men are working on turning Flannery O’Connor’s short story A Good Man is Hard to Find into an independent feature film. Ed Richardson (co-founder of the Atlanta Metro Studios facility, on the old Shannon Mall property in Union City) is producing, and Benedict Fitzgerald is writing the script, the latter having previously penned the screenplays for Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ and O’Connor adaptation Wise Blood, which starred and was directed by John Huston. Like that latter film, A Good Man is Hard to Find is planned to be filmed in Georgia, including near O’Connor’s onetime home Andalusia in Baldwin County.
