Not since Angus Scrimm have I seen a more naturally menacing actor than Neville Archambault who plays the lumbering, sweaty landlord in this Hammer-erotic, voyeuristic thriller that was originally titled Slumlord. Under the scrutiny of a disgusting landlord who has installed cameras to monitor their every move, I’m reminded of Lady In a Cage where Olivia de Havilland gets trapped in her service elevator and watches as riff raff invade her home. Slipping in and out of their residence is one thing, but this guy likes to watch the young woman take showers as well as executing swift justice to those who might harm her. Is he a creepy savior or a sadistic pervert? Well, that’s the premise here in this fully charged suspense film.
