Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
A plague has raised the dead in Victorian England and is used as a metaphor for the effects of marriage on 19th century women in this mishmash of Jane Austen and Hammer’s Plague of the Zombies aimed at millennial couples. Expected to shift between being courted by dullards or being eaten by zombies, five sisters wearing corsets have been trained to hunt down and kill the undead. Lily (Elizabeth Bennet) has her hands full fighting the apocalypse not to mention marriage proposals from snooty aspiring suitors like Mr. Darcy (Douglas Booth), decades before Buffy fought vampires. These stern, strong maidens face the task of learning Chinese kung fu moves without ever venturing on a world cruise. Originally opted as a Natalie Portman A-list vehicle, it’s better as a grade-B schlock fest!
