Under the Eiffel Tower
As a fired Kentucky bourbon salesman who drinks too much, Stuart (Matt Walsh) sifts through plates of food, glasses of wine and juvenile romantic paranoia when he accepts a friend’s offer to join them on a family vacation in France. After a shaky abrupt proposal to the couple’s 24-year-old daughter is rejected, the middle-aged Matt meets a soccer bum (Reid Scott) at the airport and the two spend the rest of the film in pursuit of Louise (Judith Godrèche), a winery owner with an invalid husband. It’s a Woody Allen-esque venture through awkwardness and expectation as Louise invigorates the mysteries of romantic adulthood in both men.
