Moon Duo’s Trance About Architecture

Psychedelic trance-inducers Moon Duo (guitarist Ripley Johnson and keyboardist Sanae Yamada) have announced some details about their fourth album – and it turns out it’s a two-parter reflecting “the invisible structures found in the cycle of seasons and the journey of day into night, dark into light.

“Offering a cosmic glimpse into the hidden patterns embedded in everything,” the group’s press release continues, “Occult Architecture reflects the harmonious duality of these light and dark energies though the Chinese theory of Yin and Yang. In Chinese, Yin means ‘the shady side of the hill,’ and is associated with the feminine, darkness…” Yep, sounds about right! Thus, Vol. 1 will embrace Moon Duo’s darker qualities, while Vol. 2 will presumably be a “lighter” album, sonically and lyrically.

Occult Architecture Vol. 1 will be released Feb. 3rd on Sacred Bones Records; details on the release of Vol. 2 will be revealed in the coming months. A world tour, including numerous North American dates, begins on Feb. 22nd, but alas, no Southeastern dates are included thus far.
